Dr Ricky Frazer
Dr Ricky Frazer is a medical oncology consultant working at Velindre Cancer Centre (VCC) in Cardiff. He specialises in renal cancer, melanoma and acute oncology and is clinical lead for the acute oncology assessment unit at VCC and leads on checkpoint inhibitor Immunotherapy toxicity management. He has been involved in writing national toxicity guidelines such as the UKONS acute oncology management guidelines and has recently completed and was awarded a distinction in the postgraduate certificate in acute medicine at the University of South Wales. He was a Welsh Clinical Leadership Training Fellow with the Wales Deanery and is s a Founding Associate Fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management. He has a strong educational interest and is currently a Royal College of Physicians (RCP) College Tutor and a council member for the Academy of Medical Educators. He is also an Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff University. He has completed a Masters in medical education and recently was awarded the national Munro Medal by the RCP for excellence and leadership in education.
Dr Sarb Clare
Dr Sarb Clare is deputy medical director and acute medical consultant at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. She was one of the first trainee's within acute medicine in the West Midlands and the first appointed acute physician at City Hospital in 2008 where she set up acute medicine from infancy. She has held many leadership roles including clinical lead acute medicine, Midland Met clinical advisor (associate medical director) and currently deputy medical director. She has been pivotal in developing acute medicine regionally and nationally. She has delivered many educational initiatives including Stroke Thrombolysis, AMAN, IMPACT, USS at the front door and more recently Women Empowering Women and Fearless which addresses gender inequality within medicine and the challenges it poses. She has created and delivered numerous innovative services including acute echo clinic, AMU virtual clinic and the ambulatory area to name a few. She has been commended nationally and internationally on many services she has created including the AMU placement blocks by the RCP as well as the AMU Clinical skills lab; AMU Virtual Clinic by SAM. She was pivotal in securing the respiratory team the RCP Future Hospital platform and is a national pioneer in Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS). She is very passionate about leadership and has recently set up the Women's Clinician Network which aims to support, mentor and inspire our future female clinicians and is launching a podcast entitled Women Empowering Women. In her free time she loves to run and is a flamenco dancer.
Dr Andew Viggars
Dr Viggars is a clinical oncology registrar by background, training in the Yorkshire and the Humber region. He is particularly interested in acute oncology and provision of timely and appropriate palliative radiotherapy. Dr Viggars is currently on a one year out of programme experience on a Health Education England future leaders programme fellowship at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. The focus of this fellowship year is the acute oncology unit, where he is trying to develop new ways of providing innovative care and improving experience for patients as well as improving working and training/education for staff. He has worked around the Yorkshire region since graduating and has experience of working at all three cancer centres in the region through his training so far.
